Review Lagu Dream Theater: Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence (Part II)

Sebelum lanjut membaca review Hiburan Keren mengenai lagu terpanjang Dream Theater, sebaiknya sobat-sobat sekalian terlebih dahulu membaca postingan sebelumnya mengenai Review Lagu Six Dregrees Of Inner Tur bulence Part I karena postingan ini merupakan bagian kedua dari tiga bagian mengenai Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence.

Lirik War Inside My Head ditulis oleh Mike Portnoy yang merupakan mantan drummer Dream Theater. Secara keseluruhan, lagu ini menceritakan tentang seorang veteran perang yang menderita Post-Traumatic Stress Dissorder (PTSD). PTSD merupakan gangguan mental yang dipicu oleh peristiwa mengerikan yang pernah dialami penderitanya, dalam lagu ini pemicunya adalah peristiwa-peristiwa yang terjadi ketika si penderita berada di medan perang.

Lirik dalam lagu ini menjelaskan keadaan di medan perang yang selalu merasuki penderitanya seperti yang terlihat di bait ketiga “Hearing voices from miles away, Saying things never said, Seeing shadows in the light of the day, Waging a war inside my head” yang berarti si penderita mendengar suara yang sama sekali tidak duidengar oleh orang lain serta melihat bayang-bayang korban peperangan dari suatu tempat yang jauh di sana (medan perang).

IV.  The Test That Stumped Them All

Suffering from delusions

Lirik The Test That Stumped Them All ditulis oleh Mike Portnoy menceritakan tentang seseorang yang mengidap Skizofrenia, sebuah gangguan mental yang mempengaruhi fungsi otak dan cara pandang seseorang. Penderita skizofrenia akan akan mengalami delusi, halusinasi, mendengar suara-suara yang menggema dalam pikirannya,  dan tidak dapat membedakan antara kenyataan dan khayalan.

Bait keempat di lagu ini yang berbunyi “The boy is simply crazy, Suffering from delusions” menjelaskan bahwa seseorang (anak laki-laki) hanya gila dan menderita delusi. Selanjutnya pada bait kelima “He lives in a world of fiction, And really could use some help” yang berarti bahwa dia hidup di dunia fiksi dan benar-benar membutuhkan bantuan semakin menguatkan fakta bahwa dia menderita Skizofrenia.

V.  Goodnight Kiss

Goodnight kiss in your nightgown

Lavender in your bed

So innecent as you lie down

Sweet dreams that run through your head

            Are you lonely without Mommy’s love?

            I want you to know I’d die for that moment

You’re just apoor girl

Afraid of thir cruel world

Lagu selanjutnya, Goodnight Kiss masih ditulis oleh Mike Portnoy menceritakan seseorang yang menderita Post-Partum Depression atau depresi pasca melahirkan.  Dalam lagu ini diseritakan bahwa seseorang kehilangan anaknya setelah dilahirkan, dan lebih parah lagi hal itu dialaminya sebanyak dua kali, terlihat dari lirik “It’s been five years to the day end, My tainted blood’s still the same.” Akibat dari penderitaannya dia memendam dendam kepada dokter yang menangani proses persalinannya seperti bunyi lirik “I can’t help acting this way end, Those bastard doctors are gonna pay.”
