Positngan ini merupakan lanjutan dari  Review Lagu Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence (Part I) dan Review Lagu Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence (Part II), jadi saya sarankan sebelum sobat-sobat membaca postingan ini sebaiknya kalian membaca kedua postingan sebelumnya.

VI.   Solitary Shell

He seemed no different from the rest

Just a healthy normal boy

            He learned to walk and talk on time

But never cared much to be held

            And steadily he would decline

As a boy he was considered somewhat odd

Kept to himself most of the time

He would daydream in and out of his own world

But in every other way he was so fine

            He’s a Monday morning lunatic

            Disturbed from time to time

Lost within himself

A temporary catatonic

Madman on occasion

When will he break out

Of his solitary shell

            He stuggled to get through his day

            He was helplessly behind

He poured himself

            Writing for hours at a time

As a man he was a danger to himself

Fearful and sad most of the time

He was drifting in and out of sanity

But in every other way he was so fine

            He’s a Monday morning lunatic

            Disturbed from time to time

Lost within himself

A momentary maniac

With casual delusions

When will he be let out

Of his solitary shell

Lagu berlanjut ke Solitary Hell yang ditulis oleh John Petrucci menceritakan tentang seseorang yang menderita Sindom Asperger. Sindom Asperger merupakan satu gejala autisme dimana penderitanya memiliki kesulitan dalam berkomunikasi dengan lingkungannya namun kemampuan linguistic dan kognitifnya sama sekali tidak mengalami penurunan dan bahkan penderitanya memiliki IQ tinggi.

Di bagian ini, penjelasan mengenai Sindrom Asperger dapat dilihat dilirik “He learned to walk and talk on time, But never cared much to be held, And steadily he would decline, Into his solitary shell”  yang menerangkan bahwa seorang anak laki-laki lebih suka menyendiri. Namun pada akhirnya keluarganya meminta dia untuk membuka diri dan berusaha bergaul dengan lingkungan sekitar “When will he be let out, Of his solitary shell”.

VII. About To Crash (Reprise)

I’m alive again

The darkness far behind me

Despair will never find me

            I feel strong

A new sense of elation

Euphoria fization

Still it’s hard to just get by

It seems so meaningless to try

About To Crash (Respire) adalah lanjutan dari About To Crash dan masih ditulis oleh John Petrucci. Bagian ini menceritakan bahwa penderita Bipolar Disorder tersebut sedang berada dalam fase mania seperti yang dapat dilihat pada lirik di atas.

VIII.  Losing Time/Grand Finale

Bagian ini merupakan yang terakhir dari Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence dan terbagi dua yaitu losing Time dan Grand Finale.

Losing Time

She dressed in black everyday

She keeps her hair simple and plain

She never wears make up

But no one would care if she did anyway

            She doesn’t recall yesterday

            Faces seem twisted and strange

            But she always wakes up

            Only to find she’d been miles away

Ambsense of awareness

A lapse of perception

She had created a way to survive

She learn to detach from herself

A behavior that kept her alive

Masih ditulis oleh John Petrucci, Losing Time menceritakan tentang seorang gadis yang memiliki masalah dengan kepribadiannya, atau biasa disebut kepribadian ganda. Dalam lagu ini dijelaskan bahwa gadis tersebut selalu mencari cara dan berusaha melepaskan diri dari dirinya sendiri dengan menciptakan kepribadian alternative seperti pada lirik “Wanting to escape, She had created a way to survive, She learn to detach from herself, A behavior that kept her alive.”

Grand Finale

Hope in the face of our human distress

Helps us to understand the tusbulence deep inside

That takes hold of our lives

Shame and disgrace over mental unrest

Keeps us from saving those we love

The grace within our hearts

And the sorrow in our souls

Deception of fame

Vengeance of war

Grand Finale merupakan akhir dari perjalanan panjang di lagu ini, kesimpulan dari seluruh lagu yang membahas mengenai gangguan mental dan membantu kita untuk memahami makna dari setiap bagian lagu. Deception of fame (The Test That Stumped Them All), Vengeance of war (War Inside My Head), Lives torn apart (Goodnight Kiss), Losing oneself (Losing Time), Spiraling down (About To Crash dan About To Crash (Reprise)), Feeling the walls closing in (Solitary Shell).

Dan kemudian lagu ini diakhiri dengan dengan lirik yang memukau dan sangat mengagumkan.
